First launch
Windows
Builds are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns on first run. Choose "More info", then "Run anyway". The installer puts Agent V in your user folder and adds Start menu and desktop shortcuts.
macOS
Builds are not notarized yet, so macOS blocks the first launch. Open the .dmg, drag the app to Applications and open it once. Then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose "Open Anyway".
Linux
Make the AppImage executable and run it, or install the .deb or .rpm with your package manager.
chmod +x Vyotiq-*.AppImageWould rather not run an unsigned build? The source is public and you can build it yourself.
What else you need
- A model
- An API key or cloud credentials for one of eleven providers, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or Ollama running locally with no key at all.
- Git
- Optional. Worktrees, instances on their own branch, uncommitted changes, commits and pull requests need it on your PATH.
- Node or uv
- Only for MCP servers that start with
npxoruvx.
Updates
Agent V checks for a new version when it starts and every six hours. It never downloads or installs one by itself: you see the release notes, choose "Download update", then "Restart and install". You can turn the checks off with "Check automatically" in Settings, About. All versions are on GitHub, and what changed is on the changelog.
